Who We Are

Our Story

My name is Frank Rook, and I'm the founder of Rook Custom Vinyl.  I've worked with vinyl for three years now and have learned the ins-and-outs of designing, producing, and applying high quality vinyl pieces.  Before I knew how to use design tools and manipulate images to look as I envisioned them to, I struggled to get a half-decent logo, or a somewhat professional branded header for my website.  It was so difficult to find a designer that actually brought my ideas to life as I had wanted them, so I started to do it myself.

I actually started working with vinyl in the car community initially - making vinyl decals and banners for cars to sport on their windows and windshields. Over time from selling decals both in-person and online via TikTok and my website, I gathered much experience working with vinyl from creating a design to bringing it to life, then applying it onto a vehicle.  While I loved it and  all of the interactions I had with people within the car community, I wanted more from my business.  It turns out that it's unfortunately quite niche to decorate your car with stickers - so I wanted to do something that could appeal to a wider range of people.

 I then started Rook Custom Vinyl, where I made custom stickers to order, sometimes working long hours to keep up with orders because every order was custom. I didn't yet understand the value in my work, and my low pricing gave me order volume that I realized I simply wouldn't be able to keep up with without a team. Imagine getting 20 orders on the same day for custom stickers and decals for varying applications, and you have to create all 20 unique designs using the 10-word note that the customer left with their order.  It would take an hour to get just a handful of orders ready to ship at the post office, but keeping up with huge-scale print operations with entire warehouses full of equipment and staff proved to be challenging, and taught me a lot.  

Since then as the business has evolved, I've dedicated Rook Custom Vinyl to helping other business owners find their brand identity because I understand firsthand how hard designing all of your own media can be as a business owner, especially early on.  You don't want to pay designers $50 for one design that you'll use twice before realizing you don't like it.  I get it.  That's why we're committed to making business branding easy from storefront, to branded stickers, to online branding assets while providing value to your company by helping create a more professional and defined brand image.
